Let's Go, Eevee! Muk’s coloration becomes increasingly vivid the more it feasts on its favorite dish—trash. Muk loses to many common Pokemon in standard play. PP Effect % Evolve: Venom Drench--100: 20: 100: Opposing Pokémon are drenched in an odd poisonous liquid. Alolan Muk's stellar defensive typing and above average special bulk let it be an excellent special tank and one of the best Pursuit trappers in the tier, capable of providing valuable support to teams by removing threats such as Latias, Chandelure, and Gengar. In UU, Muk is very hard to beat if you don't know the set. I recommend Muk for any UU team. Furthermore, a very helpful ability in Sticky Hold, allows Muk to keep its item against Trick, Switcheroo, and Knock Off users, helping it check threats such as Rotom-S and Choice Specs Floatzel more reliably without being forced out. Overview Muk is a very viable Pokemon in the PU metagame due to its high Attack stat, good special bulk, and pure Poison typing. Muk can also have a hard time dealing with non-Steel-type Pokemon that resist Sludge Bomb and Explosion like Gengar, Tyranitar, Golem, and Rhydon. Overview.
These flaws make it difficult to justify Muk's place on offensive teams over other Explosion users like Exeggutor and Gengar, which offer significantly more defensive utility and are more effective at luring Pokemon like Raikou, Snorlax, and Zapdos. Muk carves a niche in the metagame as a capable bulky setup sweeper thanks to its access to Curse, managing to separate itself from other bulky setup sweepers like Spiritomb and Type: Null because of its inability to be crippled by Trick, Switcheroo, and Knock Off, courtesy of its ability Sticky Hold. It's blessed with two fantastic STAB moves in Gunk Shot and Poison Jab as well as access to the elemental punches and even a priority move with Shadow Sneak. Overall, you won't find Muk doing much except surprising opponents and of course Exploding. This is not because of its stats or movepool, but thanks to its weakness to the most-used physical attack in the game: Earthquake.
Muk's access to Curse makes it a threatening setup sweeper for unprepared teams, exploiting passive Pokemon such as Altaria and Lickilicky. It also has a very high cool factor.
