And with every victory we added to our ever-growing tally, we also experienced losses. He knew that he was meant for more than his clan would ever allow of him, and he hated them for it. And when, at last, Archimonde lay defeated, he sent that pawn through the Black Gate and out the other side, to a world of far greater interest than Draenor ever was. Gul'dan expresses disappointment in Grommash, disgusted that Grommash had taken the path of steel and powder over the power offered by the Burning Legion. He then claimed the shaman's staff and left the burning ruins of his birthplace behind forever. After a moment of drowning in pain beneath an endless ocean of power, he regained his control and, by lifting only a finger, caused the chamber to erupt with overwhelming fury. A single drop fell from his forehead into the pool of water in which he was kneeling, and in the absence of the furies, other voices began to whisper. This energy brought the souls of the Ravencrest clan back to their ancestral home. In reply, Gul'dan roared that he has no people, before gripping the chieftain's face and causing him to erupt with fel energy, instantly killing him. Gul'dan used his new power to reach through his demonic link and speak face to face with his master, sitting on a throne in some distant world within the Nether. As the chieftain was about to beat him again, the elderly shaman of the clan stopped him, saying that he had tried and failed to help Gul'dan find his place in the clan.

The adventurer tried to use a soul trap to subdue Gul'dan but he resisted the trap and quickly shielded himself. Equally willing to manipulate friend and foe alike, he constantly tries to better his station in life through any means possible. Having heard enough, and his once brown skin now turned green, Gul'dan ordered his guards to remove the messenger.

In addition other loot, he will have a chance to drop two mounts. But a mysterious stranger set ... Gul’dan shares with Grommash Hellscream his terrible vision for the future of Draenor and the Iron Horde... World of Warcraft Arena World Championship. Kil’jaeden was out of the picture and Archimonde took over, preferring a strategy of brute strength over the delicate subtlety of Kil’jaeden’s lies.

Born on Draenor, homeworld of the orcs, Gul'dan was an outcast from a very young age. ©2020 Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. All rights reserved. Known to be the Betrayer of the Orcs like the one in the original timeline, Gul'dan wiped out his own clan, and planned to deliver Draenor to the alternate version of the Burning Legion in return of servitude.

This portrait depicts a younger Gul'dan from an alternate timeline, as seen in Warlords of Draenor.. From Wowpedia:. And in those last, final moments of his life, Gul’dan came to the sudden realization that the power he’d been offered was nothing more than a ruse.

Then, using this knowledge, he began deactivating the five arcane seals that had been created in the tomb by the Highborne of Suramar during the War of the Ancients using the five Pillars of Creation. Inside it, Gul'dan found the corpse of Illidan Stormrage, who was brought there after his death at the Black Temple by Maiev Shadowsong so his soul would continue to serve his eternal sentence. Even though Gul'dan's plans were thwarted, he gained another ally: Cordana Felsong. In response, the spirits of fire, earth, water and air erupted from the standing stones and began to swirl around him like rays of light. Gul'dan is the 10th and final boss of The Nighthold, and can only be accessed after players have defeated all of the previous bosses.
In the battle that followed, Mannoroth was trapped by twin harpoons linked with chain and blasted by an iron star, before ultimately meeting his end when Grommash plunged Gorehowl into his skull.

Nevertheless, he obeyed Kil'jaeden's command and began heading north, all the while asking questions about what he was searching for and about the fate of "the other one" — the Gul'dan who had journeyed to Azeroth during the Second War, raised the island of Thal'dranath from the sea but had eventually died there. Background [].

Power. After evading several of the deadly magical traps laid by Gul'dan, the mage confronted the warlock in a towering chamber, and a furious battle erupted.

That time turned out to be the end of the Second War.

Kil'jaeden's voice angrily told Gul'dan that neither of the two could die this day and that he had to withdraw.

Gul'dan is the final boss in The Nighthold raid in Legion. As the chieftain was about to beat him again, the elderly shaman of the clan stopped him, saying that he had tried and failed to help Gul'dan find his place in the clan. In exchange, all Gul’dan had to do was construct a portal linking Draenor to Azeroth, and unleash the might of the old Horde on the unsuspecting world. Looking over the completed Hellfire Citadel, Gul'dan unleashes the Felblight, a river of fel sludge twisting and corrupting all that it touches and warping the Citadel.

After months of starvation and wandering alone through the wastes, Gul'dan began to consider that the safety of a clan might be better than endless suffering. The first warlock, he seeks to spread his influence — and the power of the Legion — to all worlds. Gul'dan was the main antagonist of World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor.

Cho'gall claims K'ure's void power for himself and uses void magic to block a punitive attack from his former master. Players reportedly face him for the final time at the Nighthold in Suramar on the Broken Isles, fighting him for the final Pillar of Creation. When the eredar began to question the warlock's loyalty to the Legion, Gul'dan angrily responded that he had proved his loyalty a thousand times over, to which his master simply replied that he had failed again and again and had proved nothing. Gul’dan only truly trusts people who are like himself — those who are openly ambitious and who will do anything to improve their lot in life. When the clan elder and the chieftain spotted him, the latter furiously approached him, saying that Gul'dan was never allowed to return to his people. At 55% health, this becomes Empowered Eye of Gul'dan. But amid the chaos of the war between the Iron Horde and Azeroth's champions, the warlock escaped, and he continued to work on the demons' behalf. With nearly half of his standing forces suddenly gone, Doomhammer was forced to retreat and hunt down the traitorous warlock. Eventually, it is revealed that Draenor was rendered a dying world by Gul'dan's own abuse of the fel, and Gul'dan has zero compunction about doing the same to Azeroth. His pact with the Legion was far from being fulfilled.[17]. Gul'dan remembered the others who had rushed headlong into battle against the Iron Horde and even Archimonde himself, and realized that he would have to face every single one of them alone, albeit without a master. In turn, without the Horde to aid them, the Alliance attempted to escape on a gunship, but Gul'dan nearly thwarted this by summoning a massive fel reaver, which grabbed hold of the fleeing gunship. As Khadgar uses the Pillars of Creation and Light's Heart to put Illidan's soul back inside his body, Sargeras takes control of the body and The Demon Within[29] reveals itself. He then killed the shaman without hesitation. These are: Gul’dan wanted power, as much of it as possible, and he really didn’t care who had to pay the price as long as he got it. The warlock's plans to invade Azeroth were repurposed to suit the new Iron Horde. After the Demon Within's vanquished, Gul'dan's defeat causes him to lose his newfound powers and sends him sprawling to the ground, reverting to his original, frail form. He's the main antagonist of the movie and the only orc who is truly evil. The latter effortlessly incapacitates Grommash and opens the offer of demon blood to all orcs present, many of whom struggle with the decision of whether or not to accept.

Laying a hand on Gul'dan's shoulder, the elder said, not unkindly, that there was nothing more he could do for him, but that he had always believed there was greatness within him.

During the Battle on the Broken Shore, Gul'dan was either directly or indirectly responsible for the deaths of Tirion Fordring, Vol'jin, and Varian Wrynn. The portal begins fluctuating, a pulse of energy sending the suspended, crystalline prison of Illidan crashing into a nearby statue.

However, when the combined forces managed to defeat the alternate-version of Archimonde, the dying eredar cast Gul'dan into a portal (apparently to the original timeline of Azeroth). Gul'dan simply said that he had found his destiny. They offered him a gift, and in return, he would become the harbinger of their fury. This time, however, he is able to usher in the invasion of Azeroth and does not die to demons long locked away within the vaults of the ancient Tomb. Why? By the time the archmage had caught up with the ship, Gul'dan had killed every adult on board and stacked their shriveled corpses on deck while keeping the children lined up as a living shield against the archmage. Gul'dan, undergoing his own transformation after having drank Mannoroth's blood, replied that he had seen a vision, and a Legion wa… Gul'dan was an orc who was cast out of his clan for his physical weakness, and agreed to a secret alliance with the Burning Legion in exchange to wield fel magic. He never found it — instead, he found a horde of insane demons who promptly tore him to shreds. His plan in tatters, Gul'dan was destroyed by the reborn Illidan. In Shadowmoon Valley he attempted to raise a fel volcano in the center but was stopped.[16]. Gul’dan is working for the Burning Legion now, and in a way, he’s far more terrifying than he ever was during the First War. Garrosh's father Grommash Hellscream was to take the first drink, but Garrosh had informed him that doing so would lead to the orcs enslavement by the Burning Legion. Gul'dan was born crippled, weak and deformed in a village in Gorgrond. Archimonde wanted to devour the souls of the dead Draenei in Auchindoun, but those plans were also thwarted — again, by us.
He used the hate and bitterness he felt as a way to keep going.

Now, Gul'dan is the harbinger of the Burning Legion's ultimate invasion of Azeroth. The bitterness that had sustained him all his life ate at him until nothing was left. Naturally, Gul’dan chose life. He feels that those people can be most easily predicted and manipulated through offers of wealth or prestige. Convincing enough, Gul'dan finally opens a portal for the Legion to enter, Commencing then the fourth war.
